In 1995, Sasha moved to Ireland. 1995 was a year with a summer full of sunshine and good light on wet bogs and blue seas. Her friend taught her the joy of barefoot walking on the mossy bogs in bright sunshine. Ireland is rich in water, and water and light began to be themes in Alexandra's work. During the 15 years she lived in Galway, she earned a PhD in botany, lectured at the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, and contributed photographs to several publications on forestry and biodiversity. She also donated her images for several series of greeting cards for a variety of charities and non-governmental organizations.
While in Ireland, Alexandra also developed her interest in hand-built pottery with visual textures and rustic forms. In 2007, Alexandra held a one-woman show of portraits of people affected by the tsunami in Sri Lanka, in support of the Galway Sri Lanka Project. Her 2008-09 exhibition was a celebration of nature with fellow photographer Kevin Collins. She has since spent two years based in Germany and building her photography portfolio in far-flung spots in the world. During the second half of 2011, she is was in Oregon working on expanding her pottery skills. From January 2012, she was be traveling in Central America and blogging about poverty and social justice.
